Na Kubie palenie tytoniu jest dozwolone i regulowane na podstawie kilku przepisów. Sprzedaż i kupno papierosów są legalne, także za pośrednictwem automatów sprzedających oraz platform internetowych. Dozwolony jest również import papierosów na cele handlowe. Opakowania papierosów muszą jednak zawierać ostrzeżenia zdrowotne, informujące konsumentów o zagrożeniach związanych z paleniem. Minimalny wiek uprawniający do zakupu papierosów wynosi 18 lat. Palenie jest prawnie ograniczone w niektórych miejscach publicznych, aby zmniejszyć narażenie na dym z papierosów, jednak nie istnieje całościowy zakaz reklamy wyrobów tytoniowych. Całkowita stawka podatku akcyzowego na papierosy na Kubie wynosi 10%. Jeśli chodzi o rozpowszechnienie palenia i jego skutki, według danych z 2022 roku około 1,7 miliona Kubańczyków paliło tytoń, a ogólna częstość palenia wśród dorosłych wynosiła 18,5%. Wśród kobiet odsetek ten wynosił 10,4%, natomiast wśród mężczyzn 26,9%. Dla porównania, w 2017 roku odnotowano 2,3 miliona osób palących codziennie. Odsetek dorosłych codziennie palących papierosy wynosił ogółem 24,6%, w tym 36,8% wśród mężczyzn oraz 12,4% wśród kobiet w tym samym roku. Dane wskazują również, że palenie tytoniu znacząco przyczynia się do śmiertelności na Kubie. W 2021 roku palenie było przyczyną szacunkowo 15 300 zgonów, w tym 11 000 mężczyzn i 4 200 kobiet. Zgony związane z paleniem stanowiły 9,26% wszystkich zgonów, w tym 11,81% wszystkich zgonów wśród mężczyzn oraz 5,92% wśród kobiet w kraju. Dane te pokazują skalę problemu zdrowia publicznego związanego z paleniem na Kubie.
