Import, eksport, sprzedaż, posiadanie i używanie e-papierosów na terytorium Chin kontynentalnych są legalne. Vaping jest powszechny w większych miastach, choć miejscowe przepisy, wprowadzone między innymi w Szanghaju czy Shenzhen, zakazują używania e-papierosów w strefach objętych zakazem palenia. W Makau sprzedaż e-papierosów jest zabroniona, jednak samo ich używanie pozostaje dozwolone. Istnieje szereg miejsc publicznych, w których obowiązuje zakaz wapowania, niezależnie od tego, czy osoba korzysta z e-papierosa z nikotyną, czy bez, a za naruszenie tych ograniczeń przewidziane są mandaty w wysokości około 190 dolarów. W maju 2019 roku Światowa Organizacja Handlu (WTO) poinformowała, że Chiny opracowały normy dotyczące regulacji e-papierosów i zgłosiły je do WTO, nie podając jeszcze daty wejścia tych przepisów w życie. Standardy te określają terminologię, wymagania techniczne, metody testowania, opakowanie, oznakowanie, instrukcje użytkowania, zasady przechowywania i transportu e-papierosów.

  1. This survey relates to young adults 19-29 years old only. The question of harm was NOT relative to cigarettes. Q. Is vaping harmful to users 28% yes, 28% no, 44% dont know. Results varied a little between smokers, ex-smokers and never smokers.
