La importación, exportación, venta, posesión y uso de cigarrillos electrónicos en la China continental es legal. Vapear es común en las ciudades más grandes, aunque en ciertos lugares como Shanghái o Shenzhen se han implementado leyes locales que prohíben el vapeo en áreas donde no está permitido fumar. En Macao, la venta de cigarrillos electrónicos está prohibida, pero aún es legal vapear. Existen diversos lugares públicos en los que el vapeo está prohibido, independientemente de si se utiliza nicotina o no, y se aplican multas de aproximadamente 190 dólares por incumplir estas restricciones. En mayo de 2019, la Organización Mundial del Comercio (OMC) anunció que China había elaborado normas para regular los cigarrillos electrónicos y las había presentado ante la OMC, aunque aún no se ha establecido una fecha de adopción para estas reglas. Estas normas establecen los términos y definiciones, requisitos técnicos, métodos de prueba, embalaje, identificación, instrucciones, almacenamiento y transporte de los cigarrillos electrónicos.

  1. This survey relates to young adults 19-29 years old only. The question of harm was NOT relative to cigarettes. Q. Is vaping harmful to users 28% yes, 28% no, 44% dont know. Results varied a little between smokers, ex-smokers and never smokers.
