Według danych z 2022 roku, w Bhutanie odsetek osób dorosłych w wieku 15 lat i więcej palących tytoń wyniósł 6,9%. Z podziałem na płeć, paliło 2,7% kobiet oraz 10,6% mężczyzn w tym samym okresie, co przekłada się na około 40 314 palaczy. Dla porównania, w 2017 roku odsetek dorosłych palących codziennie wynosił 4,3%, w tym 6% wśród mężczyzn i 2,1% wśród kobiet. Jeśli chodzi o zgony związane z paleniem, w 2021 roku odnotowano 329 zgonów przypisywanych paleniu tytoniu, co stanowiło 7,43% wszystkich zgonów w kraju. Wśród nich 248 dotyczyło mężczyzn (10,3% wszystkich zgonów mężczyzn) oraz 81 kobiet (4,02% wszystkich zgonów kobiet). Dane te obrazują skalę wyzwania dla zdrowia publicznego, jakie wciąż stanowi palenie tytoniu w Bhutanie, mimo podejmowanych działań regulacyjnych mających na celu ograniczenie jego rozpowszechnienia i skutków.
