По данным на 2024 год, в Бутане распространённость курения табака среди взрослого населения в возрасте 15 лет и старше составляет 7,8%. При этом среди женщин данный показатель равен 3%, а среди мужчин — 12%. Это соответствует примерно 48 000 курящих. Данные свидетельствуют о росте как распространённости курения, так и общего числа курящих по сравнению с предыдущими годами. В качестве ориентира: в 2017 году ежедневная распространённость курения среди взрослых составляла 4,3%, в том числе 6% среди мужчин и 2,1% среди женщин. По данным за 2021 год, число смертей, связанных с курением, составило 329, что эквивалентно 7,43% всех зарегистрированных случаев смерти в стране. Из них 248 отмечалось среди мужчин (10,3% всех смертей среди мужчин) и 81 — среди женщин (4,02% всех смертей среди женщин). Эти данные подчёркивают сохраняющуюся проблему общественного здравоохранения, связанную с курением в Бутане, несмотря на реализуемые меры регулирования с целью борьбы с его распространением и последствиями.
