W Mjanmie palenie tytoniu pozostaje poważnym problemem zdrowia publicznego. Według Światowej Organizacji Zdrowia (WHO), odsetek palących dorosłych w wieku 15 lat i starszych w 2022 roku oszacowano na 19,5%. Dla porównania, w 2020 roku wynosił on 19,7%. W 2022 roku rozpowszechnienie palenia wśród mężczyzn było znacznie wyższe i wynosiło 36,5%, podczas gdy wśród kobiet odnotowano 3,1%, co wskazuje na utrzymującą się znaczną różnicę między płciami. Szacowana liczba palaczy w 2022 roku wynosiła około 7,9 miliona, co oznacza nieznaczny wzrost w porównaniu do 7,8 miliona w 2020 roku. Dla porównania, w 2017 roku odsetek dorosłych osób palących codziennie wynosił 16,2%, w tym 28,2% wśród mężczyzn i 5,1% wśród kobiet.
