Według danych z 2016 roku używanie tradycyjnych bezdymnych wyrobów tytoniowych w Mjanmie wykazuje wyraźną różnicę ze względu na płeć – aktualnymi użytkownikami jest 31,7% dorosłych mężczyzn i 1,7% dorosłych kobiet. Tradycyjne bezdymne wyroby tytoniowe są w Mjanmie legalne, co oznacza, że ich sprzedaż i używanie jest dozwolone, a także możliwy jest zakup przez internet. Obowiązują jednak wymogi dotyczące ostrzeżeń zdrowotnych na opakowaniach, a reklama tych produktów jest zakazana w krajowej i międzynarodowej telewizji oraz radiu, a także w lokalnej i międzynarodowej prasie; reklama w punktach sprzedaży nie jest natomiast zakazana. Minimalny wiek uprawniający do zakupu wynosi 18 lat.
