Sri Lanka przyjmuje restrykcyjne podejście regulacyjne wobec e-papierosów i produktów do wapowania, wprowadzając na nie zakaz. Zgodnie z tymi przepisami produkty do wapowania są traktowane jako wyroby tytoniowe, a ich sprzedaż, używanie, reklama, import (zarówno na użytek własny, jak i w celach handlowych), a także zakupy przez internet tych produktów oraz samej nikotyny są w kraju zabronione. Przepisy te uniemożliwiają wielu palaczom dostęp do mniej szkodliwych alternatyw, gdy nie są w stanie rzucić palenia, przez co zwiększa się u nich ryzyko chorób związanych z paleniem papierosów.
