En Tuvalu, el consumo de tabaco está permitido bajo regulaciones específicas. La venta de cigarrillos es legal, y también se permite la compra de cigarrillos por internet. Sin embargo, está prohibida la adquisición de cigarrillos en máquinas expendedoras. La importación de cigarrillos con fines comerciales está autorizada, pero requiere una licencia de importación. Existen restricciones de edad mínima, estableciéndose en 18 años la edad legal para adquirir productos de tabaco. Además, el consumo de tabaco en lugares públicos está limitado para proteger a los no fumadores de la exposición. Los cigarrillos en Tuvalu están sujetos a una tasa total de impuestos de 0.36. En cuanto a la prevalencia, en 2022 se estimó que el 33.8% de los adultos eran fumadores actuales de tabaco, con una diferencia notable entre géneros: el 48.3% de los hombres y el 19% de las mujeres eran fumadores. Los datos de 2021 indican que el consumo de tabaco provocó 17 muertes en Tuvalu, de las cuales 12 correspondieron a hombres y 5 a mujeres. Las muertes relacionadas con el tabaco representaron el 15.2% de todos los fallecimientos en el país en 2021, con un 19.73% de las muertes masculinas y un 9.93% de las muertes femeninas.
