En Togo, la prevalencia del consumo de tabaco entre adultos de 15 años o más, en 2022, se estimó en 4.7%. Esta cifra refleja una leve disminución respecto al 4.9% registrado en 2020 y al 7.2% en 2019. Entre los hombres, la prevalencia del tabaquismo descendió de 9.3% en 2020 a 8.9% en 2022, continuando con la tendencia a la baja observada desde el 13.5% en 2019. En el caso de las mujeres, la prevalencia se mantuvo relativamente estable en 0.5% entre 2020 y 2022, frente al 0.8% registrado en 2019. El número aproximado de personas fumadoras en 2022 fue de 235,620, mientras que en 2020 hubo unas 231,520 y en 2019 se contabilizaron 330,057. La prevalencia del consumo diario de tabaco en adultos en 2017 fue del 5.8%, con una prevalencia del 11.2% en hombres y del 0.7% en mujeres. Los datos de mortalidad relacionada con el tabaquismo en 2021 indicaron 2,296 muertes, de las cuales 1,844 correspondieron a hombres y 452 a mujeres. El porcentaje de todas las muertes atribuibles al consumo de tabaco fue de 3.65% en 2021, con tasas específicas de 5.42% en hombres y 1.57% en mujeres.
