En Suazilandia (Esuatini), la prevalencia del consumo de tabaco entre adultos de 15 años o más, según datos de 2022, fue de 14.6% en hombres y 1% en mujeres, con una prevalencia general en adultos del 7.6%. Esto representa un ligero aumento respecto a 2020, cuando las tasas fueron de 14.2% en hombres, 0.9% en mujeres y 7.4% en total. Se estima que en 2022 había 55,133 personas fumadoras, lo que supone un incremento en comparación con las 51,665 registradas en 2020. En cuanto a la mortalidad atribuida al tabaquismo, en 2021 se reportaron 370 muertes relacionadas con el consumo de tabaco, de las cuales 259 correspondieron a hombres y 110 a mujeres. Las muertes asociadas al tabaquismo representaron el 2.09% de todos los fallecimientos en Suazilandia, con un 2.7% de las muertes masculinas y un 1.37% de las muertes femeninas. Estas cifras ponen de manifiesto los desafíos continuos para la salud pública que representa el consumo de tabaco en Suazilandia, lo que resalta la importancia de mantener e intensificar las medidas de salud pública para reducir sus efectos.
