En 2022, la prevalencia de consumo de tabaco entre adultos en Moldavia fue del 26.4% entre personas de 15 años o más, con una marcada diferencia entre géneros. Entre los hombres, la prevalencia alcanzó el 49.8%, mientras que entre las mujeres fue considerablemente menor, situándose en 6%. Esto refleja una tendencia persistente, ya que la prevalencia general mostró un ligero aumento desde el 24.5% registrado en 2020. Se estima que el número total de fumadores en Moldavia fue de aproximadamente 881,535 personas en 2022, lo que representa un incremento respecto a las 821,313 registradas en 2020. Como referencia, la prevalencia de consumo diario de tabaco entre adultos en 2017 fue del 20.5%, con un 38% entre hombres y un 4.7% entre mujeres.
