En Colombia, fumar es legal con ciertas restricciones. La venta de cigarrillos está permitida y las personas pueden comprarlos en línea, aunque no está autorizado adquirirlos en máquinas expendedoras. La importación de cigarrillos con fines comerciales es legal siempre que se cuente con la licencia correspondiente. Sin embargo, es obligatorio que los empaques de cigarrillos incluyan advertencias sanitarias, y la edad mínima para comprar cigarrillos es de 18 años. Además, existen restricciones legales para fumar en lugares públicos. Se aplica una prohibición total de toda publicidad de cigarrillos. Los cigarrillos están sujetos a una carga tributaria total del 65%. En 2022, Colombia registraba alrededor de 3,2 millones de adultos fumadores actuales, con una prevalencia de consumo de tabaco en adultos del 8,2%. Entre los hombres, la prevalencia era del 12,1%, mientras que entre las mujeres era del 4,5%. Ese mismo año, había aproximadamente 2,4 millones de fumadores diarios, con una prevalencia diaria de consumo del 6,5% en adultos —9,8% en hombres y 3,4% en mujeres—. En 2021, se estimó que el tabaquismo causó alrededor de 13.200 muertes en Colombia, incluyendo 9.200 entre hombres y 4.000 entre mujeres. Esto indica que el consumo de tabaco representó el 3,72% de todas las muertes en el país, incluyendo el 4,58% de las muertes masculinas y el 2,61% de las muertes femeninas.
