En Bolivia, en 2022, la prevalencia del consumo de tabaco entre adultos de 15 años o más se estimó en 12.2%, con una notable diferencia según el género: el 20.4% de los hombres y el 4.1% de las mujeres eran fumadores. Esto representa una leve disminución respecto a las cifras de 2020, que indicaban una prevalencia general de 13.2%, 21.4% en hombres y 5% en mujeres. El número total de fumadores en Bolivia en ese mismo año fue de aproximadamente 1,004,297 personas. En cuanto a las muertes atribuibles al consumo de tabaco, los datos de 2021 señalan que el tabaquismo fue responsable del 2.55% de todas las defunciones en el país, con un 3.32% en hombres y un 1.56% en mujeres. La prevalencia de consumo diario de tabaco en adultos en 2015 era del 14.8%, con un 21.9% en hombres y un 9.1% en mujeres. El número total de muertes relacionadas con el tabaquismo en 2021 fue de 3,090, de las cuales 2,256 correspondieron a hombres y 834 a mujeres. Estas estadísticas reflejan una tendencia a la baja tanto en la prevalencia del consumo de tabaco como en las muertes asociadas al tabaquismo desde 2016, año en que el consumo de tabaco representaba el 6.83% de todas las muertes en el país.
