Un fallo del gobierno de Argentina de 2011 prohíbe la venta, publicidad, distribución e importación de cigarrillos electrónicos y productos relacionados. El Decreto N.º 602/2013 también clasifica los cigarrillos electrónicos como productos de tabaco, por lo que su uso está prohibido en espacios públicos cerrados y en el transporte público según la Ley Nacional de Control de Tabaco N.º 26.687.
