En Kirguistán, la prevalencia del consumo de tabaco entre adultos de 15 años o más en 2022 se estimó en 25,8%, con una marcada diferencia entre géneros. La prevalencia entre los hombres fue de 50,1%, mientras que entre las mujeres fue de 3,2%. El número total de personas fumadoras en el país se calculó en aproximadamente 1.141.934. Estas cifras representan una ligera disminución con respecto a años anteriores, ya que la prevalencia fue de 26,1% en 2020 y de 26,6% en 2019. Como referencia, en 2017 la prevalencia diaria de tabaquismo entre adultos fue de 20,6%, siendo de 39,5% en hombres y de 2,7% en mujeres. En cuanto a las defunciones, en 2021 el consumo de tabaco fue responsable del 13,68% del total de muertes en el país, lo que representó el 5,76% de los fallecimientos en mujeres y el 19,84% en hombres. En ese mismo año, el número total de defunciones atribuibles al tabaco ascendió a 5.322, de las cuales 4.342 correspondieron a hombres y 980 a mujeres. Estas estadísticas ponen de manifiesto los retos que el tabaquismo supone para la salud pública en Kirguistán y resaltan la necesidad de mantener los esfuerzos para reducir su impacto y prevalencia.
