In Swaziland (Eswatini), the prevalence of tobacco smoking among adults aged 15 years and older, as of 2022, was reported to be 14.6% for males, while for females, it was 1%, with an overall adult smoking prevalence of 7.6%. This represents a slight increase from 2020, when the rates were 14.2% for males, 0.9% for females, and 7.4% overall. The number of smokers in 2022 was estimated to be 55,133, which reflects an increase from 51,665 in 2020.
In terms of smoking-related mortality, in 2021, there were 370 deaths attributed to smoking, with males accounting for 259 of these deaths and females accounting for 110. Smoking-related deaths constituted 2.09% of all deaths in Swaziland, with 2.7% of male deaths and 1.37% of female deaths.
