В Украине сохраняется заметно высокая распространённость курения среди взрослых. По данным 2024 года, 6,6 миллиона человек в возрасте 15 лет и старше продолжали курить. Это соответствует общему уровню распространённости курения среди взрослых 20,4%, при существенной разнице между мужчинами и женщинами: курят 35,7% мужчин и 7,6% женщин. Для сравнения, в 2020 году по оценкам курили 8 462 024 человека, что составляло 23,3% среди взрослых в целом, 40,4% среди мужчин и 9% среди женщин. Для справки, в 2016 году ежедневное курение среди взрослых составляло 20,1%, среди мужчин 35,9% и среди женщин 7%. Что касается смертности, связанной с курением, в 2021 году было зарегистрировано 74 279 таких случаев, из них 12 290 среди женщин и 61 989 среди мужчин. Смерти, связанные с курением, составили 9,94% всех случаев смерти в стране: 3,2% среди женщин и 17,05% среди мужчин. Эти данные подчёркивают серьёзную проблему для общественного здравоохранения, которую представляет курение в Украине.
