В Уганде, по данным Всемирной организации здравоохранения (ВОЗ), на 2024 год распространённость курения табака среди населения в возрасте 15 лет и старше составила 4,4%. Этот показатель немного увеличился по сравнению с 4,1% в 2022 году, снизился с 4,7% в 2020 году и значительно ниже, чем 8%, зафиксированные в 2019 году. Уровень распространённости различался по половому признаку: среди мужчин курят 7,8%, среди женщин — 1,2%. В абсолютных цифрах в 2024 году в Уганде насчитывалось около 1,2 миллиона человек, которые курят, что больше по сравнению с 1 042 276 в 2022 году, меньше, чем 1 107 586 в 2020 году и 1 814 091 в 2019 году. Уровень ежедневного курения среди взрослых в 2017 году составлял 6,7% (среди мужчин — 7,7%, среди женщин — 2,1%). По данным о смертности, связанной с курением, в 2021 году курение стало причиной 5 284 случаев смерти, причём среди мужчин этот показатель был выше (3 838 смертей) по сравнению с женщинами (1 447 смертей). Таким образом, смертность, связанная с курением, составила 2,09% всех мужских смертей и 1% всех женских смертей в стране. Эти данные свидетельствуют о высокой нагрузке на здравоохранение из-за последствий курения в Уганде и подчёркивают необходимость более эффективных мер общественного здравоохранения.
