В Чаде наблюдаются заметные тенденции в распространённости курения табака среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше. По данным на 2024 год, оценочная текущая распространённость курения табака среди мужчин составила 12,2%, тогда как среди женщин этот показатель был лишь 1,6%. В целом в 2024 году уровень распространённости курения среди взрослых составил 6,8%, что эквивалентно 731 000 человек. Для сравнения, в 2020 году распространённость курения среди мужчин составляла 11,1%, среди женщин — 1,4%, а общий показатель был 6,2%. Эти данные свидетельствуют о незначительном увеличении доли курящих среди мужчин за двухлетний период. Абсолютное число людей, которые курят, в 2022 году оценивалось примерно в 611 604, что является увеличением по сравнению с 520 330 в 2020 году. Это отражает растущую тенденцию к курению табака в стране. Для справки: в 2017 году распространённость ежедневного курения табака среди взрослых составляла 7,5%, среди мужчин — 13,2%, среди женщин — 2,1%. Данные о смертности, связанной с курением, за 2021 год показывают, что на курение табака приходится 2,48% всех случаев смерти среди мужчин и 0,95% среди женщин, при общем числе случаев смерти, связанных с курением, 3 296 человек. Эти статистические данные подчёркивают серьёзную проблему для общественного здравоохранения, вызванную курением табака в Чаде, и указывают на необходимость дальнейшего мониторинга и принятия мер для решения этой проблемы.
