В 2021 году влияние курения табака на общественное здоровье в Сирии было существенным: зафиксировано 13 133 смерти, связанные с курением табака, что составляет примерно 12,55% от всех смертей в стране. Из этого числа 10 984 смерти пришлись на мужчин (17,37% всех смертей среди мужчин) и 2 149 — на женщин (5,19% всех смертей среди женщин), что подчёркивает значительный гендерный разрыв в показателях смертности, связанной с табаком. Для сравнения, общее количество смертей, связанных с курением, в 2016 году составило 9 447, или 8,7% от общего числа смертей, что свидетельствует о росте как абсолютного числа, так и доли смертей, обусловленных курением табака, за прошедшие годы. Эти данные подчёркивают сохраняющиеся вызовы для системы здравоохранения Сирии, связанные с курением табака и необходимость принятия целенаправленных мер воздействия.

Снижение вреда от табака: актуальная проблема для Азии

В центре внимания этого брифинга GSTHR — Азия. В этом регионе проживает 60 процентов курильщиков мира, и здесь происходит почти половина всех смертей от курения в мире. В Азии также проживают девять из каждых десяти пользователей бездымного табака (SLT), что приводит к высокому уровню заболеваемости раком полости рта. В ряде стран общественное здравоохранение серьёзно подрывается из-за того, что правительства либо контролируют отечественные табачные компании, либо имеют в них значительную долю. Для устранения угрозы общественному здоровью, связанной с курением и употреблением табака, необходимы новые решения, однако более безопасные никотиновые продукты запрещены во многих странах. Улучшит ли снижение вреда от табака общественное здоровье в Азии? И если да, то какие препятствия стоят на его пути?
