В Соломоновых Островах курение табака по-прежнему остаётся значимой проблемой общественного здравоохранения. По данным на 2024 год, распространённость курения среди взрослых составляла 39,2%, при этом среди мужчин этот показатель достигал 57,1%, а среди женщин — 20,8%. Это свидетельствует о незначительном снижении общей распространённости по сравнению с 38% в 2020 году. Общее число курящих в возрасте 15 лет и старше в 2024 году составляло примерно 196 000 человек, что больше по сравнению с 150 965 в 2020 году. Для справки: в 2017 году распространённость ежедневного курения среди взрослых составляла 29,7%, среди мужчин — 43,4%, среди женщин — 15,3%. Смертность, связанная с курением, также представляет собой серьёзную проблему для общественного здравоохранения. В 2021 году на курение было возложено 728 случаев смерти: из них 535 — среди мужчин и 192 — среди женщин. Это свидетельствует о том, что на долю курения приходится 15,97% всех смертей, причём среди мужчин этот показатель выше (20,22%), чем среди женщин (10,08%). Данные статистики подчёркивают, что курение табака остаётся значительным вызовом в Соломоновых Островах, требующим целенаправленных мер общественного здравоохранения и регулирования для снижения уровня курения и связанных с ним негативных последствий для здоровья.
