Употребление табака по-прежнему остаётся значимой проблемой общественного здравоохранения в Нигере. Распространённость текущего потребления табака среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше в 2024 году составила 6,1%. Доля курящих была значительно выше среди мужчин (11,6%) по сравнению с женщинами (0,5%). Общее количество людей, употребляющих табак в Нигере, в этом же году составило примерно 857 000 человек. Для сравнения, в 2020 году доля взрослых, употребляющих табак, была немного ниже — 6,3%. Распространённость ежедневного употребления табака среди взрослых в 2021 году составила 4,7%, причём среди мужчин — 8,7%, а среди женщин — лишь 0,1%. По показателям смертности ежегодное количество смертей, связанных с употреблением табака, в 2021 году составило 2 250 случаев, что эквивалентно 1,09% от общего числа смертей в стране. Смертность, вызванная употреблением табака, была выше среди мужчин и составила 1,46% от всех мужских смертей по сравнению с 0,66% среди женщин.
