Курение в Венгрии разрешено законом при соблюдении ряда ограничений. На упаковках табачных изделий в обязательном порядке размещаются предупреждения о вреде для здоровья, продажа разрешена только с 18 лет, а курить запрещено в общественных местах. Приобретение табачных изделий через интернет и в торговых автоматах также незаконно. Общий уровень налогообложения составляет 72%. По данным на 2024 год, в стране насчитывалось примерно 2,3 миллиона человек, которые курят в настоящее время. Распространённость курения табака среди взрослых составила 28,1%, при этом среди мужчин этот показатель был выше (31,1%), чем среди женщин (25,4%) в 2024 году. Ежедневно курили 2,1 миллиона человек, а распространённость ежедневного курения среди взрослых в 2023 году составляла 22,1%. Табак по-прежнему является значительной причиной смертности в Венгрии: в 2021 году смертность, связанная с его употреблением, оценивается примерно в 17 000 случаев, из которых 5 200 приходятся на женщин и 11 800 — на мужчин. Таким образом, курение табака стало причиной 11,01% всех смертей в тот год, включая 6,63% смертей среди женщин и 15,47% — среди мужчин.
