Этот показатель немного снизился по сравнению с уровнем 12,3%, зафиксированным в 2019 году. Уровень распространённости курения значительно выше среди мужчин: в 2024 году курят 19,4% взрослых мужчин и только 0,9% взрослых женщин. Общее количество людей, употребляющих табак в Узбекистане, в 2024 году составило примерно 2,5 миллиона человек. Для сравнения, в 2017 году распространённость ежедневного курения среди взрослых составляла 9,7%, среди мужчин — 18,9%, среди женщин — 1%. Что касается смертности, связанной с употреблением табака, данные за 2021 год показывают, что 8,51% всех случаев смерти в Узбекистане были обусловлены курением, причём среди мужчин этот показатель составил 12,79%, а среди женщин — 3,38%. Общее количество смертей, связанных с курением, в 2021 году составило 16 996 случаев. Estimates of current tobacco use and tobacco smoking in EECA (2022)
Tobacco smoking is the leading form of tobacco consumption in EECA, albeit with distinct variations across countries. In 2022, the region recorded an average smoking rate of 23.3%, accounting for 20.7 million current smokers. Projections indicate a decrease in these rates, from 28.2% in 2000 to an expected 20.5% by 2030. In countries like Uzbekistan, the prevalence of current smoking (10.7%) is significantly lower than the overall tobacco use rate (16.7%). This underscores the notable impact of smokeless tobacco, especially nasvay, on the region’s patterns of tobacco consumption.

В центре внимания этого брифинга GSTHR — Азия. В этом регионе проживает 60 процентов курильщиков мира, и здесь происходит почти половина всех смертей от курения в мире. В Азии также проживают девять из каждых десяти пользователей бездымного табака (SLT), что приводит к высокому уровню заболеваемости раком полости рта. В ряде стран общественное здравоохранение серьёзно подрывается из-за того, что правительства либо контролируют отечественные табачные компании, либо имеют в них значительную долю. Для устранения угрозы общественному здоровью, связанной с курением и употреблением табака, необходимы новые решения, однако более безопасные никотиновые продукты запрещены во многих странах. Улучшит ли снижение вреда от табака общественное здоровье в Азии? И если да, то какие препятствия стоят на его пути?
