Oznacza to nieznaczny wzrost w porównaniu z rokiem 2020, kiedy ogólna częstość palenia wynosiła 19,1%, z czego 38,6% stanowili mężczyźni, a 0,4% kobiety. Liczbę palaczy w wieku 15 lat i starszych w 2022 roku oszacowano na około 277 466 osób, podczas gdy w 2020 roku było to 269 025. Dla porównania, w 2017 roku częstość codziennego palenia wśród dorosłych wynosiła 20,6%, z czego 41,6% dotyczyło mężczyzn, a 30% kobiet.
