We Włoszech podgrzewane wyroby tytoniowe mogą być regulowane na mocy ustawy 188/2014 jako bezdymne wyroby tytoniowe („Tabacchi da inalazione senza combustione” – „Wyroby tytoniowe do inhalacji bez spalania”). Ponadto ustawa nr 6/2016 wdraża artykuł 19 unijnej dyrektywy dotyczącej wyrobów tytoniowych (obejmujący nowe wyroby tytoniowe) i odnosi się także do podgrzewanych wyrobów tytoniowych. Przepisy obejmują obowiązek zgłoszeń, powiadomień oraz umieszczania ostrzeżeń zdrowotnych na opakowaniach.
