In Israel, cigarette smoking is allowed but regulated under national tobacco control legislation. Under these regulations, cigarettes are legally sold and may be purchased in retail outlets and online, while sales through vending machines are banned. Importation of cigarettes for trade is allowed with a license. However, health warnings on packaging are mandatory, the legal minimum age for purchase is 18 years, and smoking in public places is subject to legal restrictions. Cigarettes are taxed at a total rate of 76.64%, including an excise rate of 22.67%.
Smoking continues to pose a notable public health challenge in Israel. In 2024, the number of current smokers was reported to be 1.4 million, corresponding to an adult smoking prevalence of 20.5%. That year, the prevalence among males (27.9%) was considerably higher than among females (13.3%). This prevalence was recorded to be 19.8% in 2022. In 2021, tobacco smoking resulted in an estimated 3,985 deaths, including 2,882 deaths among males and 1,103 among females. This shows that smoking accounted for 7.95% of all deaths in Isreal in 2021, including 11.22% of male deaths and 4.52% of female deaths.

Redukcja szkód związanych z tytoniem: palący problem Azji
Harry Shapiro
Oficjalne wydarzenie inaugurujące opracowanie odbyło się online w niedzielę 18 kwietnia 2021 r. i zostało współorganizowane z Association of Vapers India.
