Niemniej jednak dane o umieralności wskazują, że zgony związane z paleniem nadal stanowią poważny problem zdrowia publicznego. Według danych Global Burden of Disease (GBD) z 2021 roku palenie tytoniu odpowiadało za około 2,41% wszystkich zgonów w kraju. Oznacza to spadek w porównaniu z rokiem 2016, kiedy odsetek ten wynosił 5,24%. Ponadto 3,35% wszystkich zgonów wśród mężczyzn oraz 1,25% wśród kobiet było przypisywanych paleniu tytoniu. Przekłada się to na łączną liczbę 3056 zgonów, z czego mężczyźni stanowili 2351 przypadków, a kobiety 705. Dane te odzwierciedlają spadek w stosunku do 2016 roku, kiedy liczba zgonów przypisywanych paleniu wynosiła 4453, w tym 3622 wśród mężczyzn i 831 wśród kobiet. Ponadto według Badania Demograficznego i Zdrowotnego z 2018 roku, odsetek codziennych palaczy tytoniu wśród dorosłych mężczyzn wynosił 10,5%. Dane te podkreślają utrzymujący się wpływ palenia na zdrowie publiczne w Gwinei, wskazując na konieczność dalszych działań mających na celu ograniczenie negatywnych skutków palenia.
