En Yemen, en 2022, la prevalencia del consumo de tabaco entre adultos de 15 años o más se estimó en 16,7%, con una prevalencia mayor entre los hombres (27%) en comparación con las mujeres (6,3%). Esto representa una ligera disminución respecto a 2020, cuando la prevalencia general era de 17,1%, con tasas de consumo en hombres y mujeres de 27,4% y 6,7%, respectivamente. El número de personas fumadoras en 2022 fue de aproximadamente 3,109,990, un aumento frente a las 3,005,718 registradas en 2020. Además, la prevalencia diaria del consumo de tabaco en adultos en 2017 fue de 14,3%, siendo del 23,6% entre los hombres y del 5% entre las mujeres. La mortalidad atribuida al consumo de tabaco sigue representando un problema importante en Yemen, con 16,858 muertes relacionadas con el tabaquismo en 2021, lo que equivale al 7,77% de todas las defunciones. Los datos desglosados por género muestran que las muertes causadas por el tabaco representaron el 9,74% del total de muertes masculinas y el 4,91% del total de muertes femeninas en ese mismo año.
