En el Perú está permitido fumar. La venta e importación de cigarrillos con fines comerciales es legal, lo que incluye compras en línea y ventas a través de máquinas expendedoras. El país aplica varias medidas regulatorias, como la obligación de incluir advertencias sanitarias en los empaques, restricciones al consumo de tabaco en espacios públicos y un mínimo de edad legal de 18 años para la venta. La tasa total de impuestos aplicada es de 0.73. En cuanto a la prevalencia, en 2022 el 7% de los adultos eran fumadores actuales de tabaco, cifra que incluye al 2.6% de las mujeres y al 11.6% de los hombres. La prevalencia de fumadores diarios en 2021 fue de 1.2% en general, con 0.5% en mujeres y 2% en hombres. En 2021, se estimó que el consumo de tabaco causó 6,800 muertes, de las cuales 1,400 correspondieron a mujeres y 5,400 a hombres. Esto representó el 2.11% de todas las muertes (1.07% en mujeres y 2.86% en hombres).
