En los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, la prevalencia del consumo de tabaco entre adultos de 15 años o más se estimó en un 11,7% en 2022. Las tasas de prevalencia según el género muestran una diferencia considerable, ya que los hombres registraron una prevalencia del 15,5%, mientras que en las mujeres fue del 2,5%. Estos datos reflejan una disminución respecto a las cifras de 2019, cuando la prevalencia global era del 14,7%, con un 29% en hombres y un 0,5% en mujeres. En cuanto al tamaño de la población, en 2022 había aproximadamente 992,805 fumadores de tabaco, lo que representa un descenso respecto a los 1,214,070 registrados en 2019. La prevalencia de consumo diario de tabaco en adultos se estimaba en un 8% en 2018, con un 13,9% en hombres y un 2% en mujeres. El impacto del tabaquismo en la salud pública se refleja en los datos de mortalidad de 2021, año en el que se registraron 1,693 muertes relacionadas con el tabaco, lo que equivale al 8,45% de todos los fallecimientos. La distribución por género de estas muertes también resultó marcadamente desigual: 1,479 decesos en hombres (el 10,23% de las muertes masculinas) y 214 en mujeres (el 3,86% de las muertes femeninas) se atribuyeron al consumo de tabaco.
