En 2022, se estimó que el número total de fumadores actuales en Albania era de 525.5 mil, con una prevalencia de tabaquismo en adultos del 22.4%. Entre las mujeres adultas, la tasa de consumo de tabaco era del 6.6%, mientras que entre los hombres adultos alcanzaba el 38.7%. El número de fumadores diarios se estimaba en 592 mil, con una prevalencia diaria de tabaquismo del 23% en adultos. El consumo diario era más frecuente entre los hombres (41%) que entre las mujeres (5.6%). Según datos de 2021, el tabaquismo fue responsable de aproximadamente 4,700 muertes al año en Albania, de las cuales 3.7 mil correspondieron a hombres y 1 mil a mujeres. Esto significa que el tabaquismo representó el 15.75% de todas las muertes anuales, incluyendo el 22.16% de las muertes en hombres y el 7.78% en mujeres. En Albania, fumar está legalmente permitido y el tabaco se regula como un producto sujeto a normativas específicas.
