В Сьерра-Леоне, по оценкам на 2024 год, распространённость курения табака среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше составила 10%, при этом наблюдается значительная разница между мужчинами и женщинами: 15,2% мужчин и 4,8% женщин курят. Общее число людей, курящих табак в стране, составляет примерно 524 000 человек. Согласно данным за 2021 год, курение табака стало причиной 1964 смертей, что составляет 2,48% от общего числа смертей в стране. Из них 1437 были мужчины (3,36% всех смертей среди мужчин) и 528 — женщины (1,45% всех смертей среди женщин). В 2019 году распространённость курения составляла 19,8%, при этом среди мужчин этот показатель был 31%, а среди женщин — 8,5%; тогда курящих табак насчитывалось около 881 250 человек. В 2017 году ежедневная распространённость курения среди взрослых была на уровне 19,4%, при этом среди мужчин — 33,1%, среди женщин — 6,2%. Эти данные подчёркивают сохраняющуюся проблему для общественного здравоохранения, обусловленную курением табака в Сьерра-Леоне, несмотря на сокращение доли курящих и связанных с этим смертей.
