В Иране распространённость курения табака остаётся значимой проблемой общественного здравоохранения. По состоянию на 2024 год примерно 5,8 миллиона человек в возрасте 15 лет и старше курят. Общая распространённость табакокурения среди взрослых оценивается в 8,4%, при этом наблюдается заметное гендерное различие: 16,2% среди мужчин и 0,5% среди женщин. Эти показатели свидетельствуют о небольшом снижении по сравнению с 2020 годом, когда распространённость составляла 10,2% в целом, 19,2% среди мужчин и 1,2% среди женщин. В 2016 году ежедневное курение табачных изделий среди взрослого населения составляло 13,6%, при этом 24,4% среди мужчин и 3,8% среди женщин. В 2021 году количество ежегодных случаев смерти, связанных с курением табака, составило 34 676, из них 28 632 среди мужчин и 6 044 среди женщин. Это говорит о том, что смертность, связанная с употреблением табака, составила 6,09% от общего числа всех случаев смерти, при этом данный показатель был выше среди мужчин (8,33%), чем среди женщин (2,68%). Эти статистические данные подчёркивают сохраняющиеся сложности, связанные с курением табака в Иране, и указывают на необходимость дальнейших мер в области общественного здравоохранения для уменьшения негативного воздействия табака на здоровье.
