В Эквадоре курение разрешено при условии соблюдения определённых ограничений. Продажа сигарет допускается, однако их покупка через торговые автоматы запрещена. Приобретать сигареты онлайн и импортировать их для торговли можно только при наличии соответствующей лицензии. Кроме того, на сигаретных упаковках обязательно размещение предупреждений о вреде для здоровья, а минимальный возраст для покупки составляет 18 лет. Также действуют законодательно установленные ограничения на курение в общественных местах и регулируется реклама сигарет. На сигареты установлен совокупный налог в размере 64%. По состоянию на 2024 год в Эквадоре насчитывалось примерно 1,3 миллиона взрослых, которые курят в настоящее время, что соответствует распространённости курения среди взрослых на уровне 10%. Среди мужчин данный показатель составлял 17,6%, среди женщин — 2,5%. По оценкам за 2021 год, около 3 600 случаев смерти были связаны с употреблением табака — из них 2 800 среди мужчин и 808 среди женщин. Это свидетельствует о том, что в том году на долю курения приходилось примерно 2,9% всех случаев смерти в стране: 3,94% среди мужчин и 1,52% среди женщин.
