W Gruzji rozpowszechnienie oraz skutki palenia tytoniu stanowią poważne wyzwanie dla zdrowia publicznego. Według szacunków z 2022 roku, liczba palaczy w wieku 15 lat i starszych wynosiła 903 297 osób. Surowa częstość palenia wśród dorosłych mężczyzn wynosiła 54,7%, co jest znacząco wyższym wynikiem niż w przypadku kobiet, wśród których odsetek ten wynosił 7,1%, co ostatecznie przekłada się na ogólną częstość palenia wśród dorosłych na poziomie 29%. W 2021 roku codziennie paliło 24,2% dorosłych, w tym 7,7% kobiet i 43,3% mężczyzn. Dane z 2021 roku podkreślają poważne konsekwencje zdrowotne związane z paleniem tytoniu – odnotowano 12 018 zgonów w ciągu roku. Wynika z nich, że 10,95% wszystkich zgonów w Gruzji było związanych z paleniem, przy czym odsetek ten wyniósł 18,23% wśród mężczyzn i 3,59% wśród kobiet.
