La República de Irlanda cumple con la Directiva de Productos del Tabaco (TPD) de la Unión Europea (2014). La legislación relativa a los cigarrillos electrónicos está establecida en el Instrumento Estatutario Nº 271 de 2016, Reglamento de la Unión Europea sobre la fabricación, presentación y venta de productos del tabaco y productos relacionados de 2016. Los cigarrillos electrónicos que contienen nicotina se regulan como productos del tabaco. El vapeo no está oficialmente prohibido en espacios públicos, aunque muchos lugares han impuesto sus propias restricciones. La publicidad nacional está permitida dentro de los límites de la normativa europea y la venta transfronteriza sigue siendo legal siempre que el minorista esté registrado ante el gobierno.
