Los cigarrillos electrónicos son legales en Corea del Sur y están sujetos a una serie de regulaciones. Según la normativa vigente, su venta solo está permitida en establecimientos especializados, mientras que las compras en línea están prohibidas. No se autorizan declaraciones sobre posibles beneficios para la salud en relación con los cigarrillos electrónicos, y estos productos están gravados con un impuesto igual o superior al 50% del que se aplica a los cigarrillos convencionales. Además, todos los envases de cigarrillos electrónicos deben incluir advertencias sanitarias, y la venta está limitada a personas de 19 años en adelante. El contenido de nicotina en los líquidos no debe superar los 20 mg/ml, y el uso de cigarrillos electrónicos está restringido en espacios públicos. Actualmente no existen restricciones respecto a los sabores de estos productos. En 2022, se estimó que 1,6 millones de personas en Corea del Sur eran vapeadores actuales, lo que corresponde al 3,5% de la población adulta. Este porcentaje fue mayor entre los hombres, donde la prevalencia fue del 5,6%, en comparación con el 1,3% registrado entre las mujeres.
