Each country profile draws together some of the key statistics and regulatory information for each country in relation to smoking tobacco and safer nicotine products.

Slovenia abides by the EU TPD (2014). E-cigarettes are regulated by the Restriction on the Use of Tobacco or Tobacco-related Products Act (ZOUTPI) 2017, which classifies them as tobacco related products. Article 26 covers e-cigarettes. A license to sell tobacco related products must be acquired before vendors can sell e-cigarettes. There is a ban on cross-border and internet sales, and a complete ban on advertising. There are restrictions on vaping in public places, on public transport and in a vehicle where a minor (<18) is present. In 2016 Slovenia introduced a tax of €0.18 (USD$0.21) per ml of e-liquid, adding €1.80 to a 10 ml bottle of juice.

Notes on methodology & limitations

Data has been collected from a range of sources which are openly available online, such as vaping information/regulation websites & direct from country's legislation where available. In a few instances information has been included which was received from individuals specialising in the field. The regulatory picture changes frequently and these tables show the situation at time of going to press. This website will be updated as/when new regulatory information is received. There are gaps in the data available - readers are invited to send in updated information to the GSTHR team.
