As of 2019, 1.1% of adult women and 0.6% of adult men in Sierra Leone were current users of traditional smokeless tobacco. Traditional smokeless tobacco is allowed in Sierra Leone and is regulated as a tobacco product. Ths, the sale, use, and online purchase of these products are legal. Health warnings on packaging are required, supporting public awareness of health risks. However, there is no ban on advertising, and no minimum age restriction for sales, raising concerns about unregulated access—particularly among youth.
