Oman Background
Data sourced: 2024.   Page updated: 2025-06-19

As of 2017, Oman had approximately 32,400 users of traditional smokeless tobacco. The overall adult prevalence was 0.9%, with significantly higher use among males (1.7%) compared to females (0.1%). Daily use followed a similar trend, with 0.6% of adults using it daily—1.1% of males and 0.1% of females. Despite these figures, the sale and import of traditional smokeless tobacco for trade are banned in Oman. There is no available data on whether personal importation is permitted. The regulatory status clearly reflects a prohibition, making Oman one of the few countries in the region with a national ban on this category of tobacco products.
