Namibia Background
Data sourced: 2023.   Page updated: 2025-06-19

Based on the latest available statistics, in 2013, the prevalence of traditional smokeless tobacco use among adults in Namibia was relatively low, with 2.3% of women and 1.8% of men reporting current use. Traditional smokeless tobacco is allowed and regulated as a tobacco product under national legislation. Thus, it is legal to sell and use, both in physical retail outlets and online. However, packaging is required to display health warnings, and the sale of these products is limited to individuals 18 years and older.
