In 2018, an estimated 32.6 thousand adults in the United Arab Emirates were current users of traditional smokeless tobacco. The overall prevalence of current use among adults was 0.4 percent. Among adult males, its prevalence was 0.7 percent, while among adult females, it was 0.1 percent. The prevalence of daily use of traditional smokeless tobacco among adults was 0.3 percent, with daily use among males at 0.5 percent and among females at 0.1 percent. Traditional smokeless tobacco is banned by law in the United Arab Emirates. It is thus not legal to sell or use the product in the country.
