Each country profile draws together some of the key statistics and regulatory information for each country in relation to smoking tobacco and safer nicotine products.

In Bahrain e-cigarettes are classified as tobacco products. Their sale, importation and distribution have been banned by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce since 2013. Bahrain's tobacco control law prohibits the advertisement, promotion, sponsorship and use of tobacco products in enclosed public places and public transportation. The fine for violating this law is stated as “no less than 20 Dinars (US$53) and no more than 50 Dinars (US$132) for each violation”. The law does not appear to cover the purchase, use or possession of e-cigarettes, however bringing personal supplies when travelling could be viewed as importation. Despite the ban there is reportedly significant uptake of e-cigarettes in the Middle East generally.
